🚀 How I Launched BuzzClip and Hit Product Hunt’s Top 10

And 5 Rules to Replicate It

Hey lovely builders 👋

Last week, I launched my second product of the year BuzzClip on Product Hunt.
Here’s what happened in 24 hours:

  • 3,000+ visitors

  • 360 sign-ups

  • 10 paying customers

  • #7 Product of the Day

Not bad for a scrappy indie launch. But it wasn’t luck.

It’s the second time I launch, first time was with Founder Odyssey 1 month ago and I arrived #15. I’m starting to understand the rules and the process for a successful launch on Product Hunt. And today, I’m sharing with you 5 rules that got me here, hoping it will be useful for you.

So if you’re launching soon, follow this↓

Rule #1: Set a Launch Date & Lock It In

Define a reasonable launch date on Product Hunt and stick to it.

You will want to push it back. You will never feel ready.

Doesn’t matter.

Your future self will thank you for shipping. Done beats perfect every time.

Rule #2: Write a Tagline So Good, People Can't Ignore It

Your tagline should stop people in their tracks.
It should make them instantly think, “I need to check this out.”

Mine was:
“BuzzClip – You’re 60 seconds from your first viral UGC TikTok.”

I slept through my own launch, woke up, and saw 70+ upvotes already. The tagline did the work while I was drooling on my pillow.

Rule #3: Activate Your Network (No Shame, No Excuses)

You need people talking about your launch. You need early momentum.
Tell everyone. Your friends, your Twitter followers, your LinkedIn network.

DMs, group chats, Slack communities—whatever it takes.
The first few hours on Product Hunt are make-or-break.

Rule #4: Be a One-Person Marketing Army for 24 Hours

Launching isn’t a “post it and chill” situation.
It’s an all-day, all-night, caffeine-fueled internet takeover.

Here’s what I did:

  • Posted on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit

  • Dropped comments in relevant Facebook groups

  • Engaged with everyone who upvoted and commented

  • Kept pushing until midnight

The goal? Stay top-of-mind all day long.

Rule #5: Add a Product Hunt Banner to Your Website

If people visit your site, make it ridiculously easy for them to upvote.

A simple banner reminding them you’re live on Product Hunt = free engagement.
More upvotes = more visibility = more users.
