I joined the world’s largest hackathon last month. Here’s what happened.

No plan. No team. And 30 days later...

Hosted by Bolt.new, fully remote, for 30 days. With 1 million + participants worldwide, this was the biggest hackathon in the world, and will be even recorded in the Guinness World Record.

I decided to join solo. No plan. No team. Just an itch to build something and finish it.

Why it mattered:

  • I forced myself to ship no matter what

  • I documented the journey in daily short videos (some chaotic, some helpful, all honest)

  • I ended up co-founding a project with a brilliant UX designer I met on X

  • We pitched live on Bolt’s global stream (and won a hoodie lol)

  • We might even win a prize (👀 still waiting…)

But the best part?
I learned more in 30 days than in 3 months of side-projects. Because I committed publicly.

If you have the opportunity to do a hackathon, DO IT! It doesn’t have to be physical, could be also full remote like this one. There are many websites referencing ongoing hackathons like :

So yeah, I started recording myself almost everyday and summarizing my progress, it turned out to be very instructive and helpful! Here are some examples:

At the beginning, I wanted to do a AI avatar that makes the first interviews for HR industry, but I quickly realized after doing some MUM tests that the market was really not ready for such product. I would have been fun tho’.

So what came out in the end?

Kidz Hero - Turning Kids Into Storytelling Superheroes!

Lisa and I met on X, we were both looking for a cofounder. She is UX/UI designer and I'm software developer. We decided build a product that could be useful for early stage parents, as she is a young mother and has been evolving in this field. On my side, I was super enthousiast about how we can improve kid education and solve some of their problem with bedtime storytelling, especially in co creation with AI. So, we teamed up and started building it 😊

What is Kidz Hero?
Kidz Hero is a magical story generator that helps children become the heroes of their own adventures. Using AI, we empower kids to create unique, interactive tales that spark imagination, build confidence, and make storytelling fun again.

What We Built:
🚀 We launched a mobile app that generates kid-friendly stories on the fly
📚 Children can choose characters, worlds, and plot twists or let the AI surprise them
🎭 Every story is personalized to the child’s choices, making them the hero of their journey

Why We Did It:
To combat passive screen time with creative engagement.
To give parents and educators a tool that’s fun, safe, and educational.
To inspire the next generation of creators, readers, and thinkers.

How We Built It:

  • React Native (Expo Go) for cross-platform mobile development

  • Supabase for real-time story data and user profiles

  • Custom AI prompts for diverse, age-appropriate storytelling

  • Iterative UI/UX design to make the experience fun and frictionless

  • RevenueCat for the paywall

  • Multilingual (10+ languages)

What’s Next:
✨ Adding audio narration
🧩 Launching on App store and Play Store
