Tenerife Island and Some SAAS Metrics
Hey everyone,
Last week, I launched my new SaaS, Founder Odyssey, right before catching a flight to Tenerife, one of the beautiful Canary Islands. Here are a few surprising facts about this place:
The Canary Islands are closer to Africa than to mainland Spain, giving them a unique mix of European and African influences.
Tenerife is known for its microclimates—you can experience sunny beaches and cool mountain air all in the same day!
Mount Teide is not just the highest peak in Spain—it’s also the third-largest volcano on Earth if measured from its base on the ocean floor.

I made 3 cool things during my journey:
Code at the top of a mountain during the sunset, you’re not the most productive, but this is god-damn inspiring!
Go to the Teide, the 3rd biggest Volcano on the world, there the view is impressive, especially during the sunset, when you’re above the clouds!
Sleep on a boat in the South of the Island, my pirate soul has waken up! 🏴☠️
Founder Odyssey Milestones
Right now I have 553 users and 4 paids. It’s a nice feeling to see this product is useful for founders and that some people are ready to pay for premium features.
I was so happy when I had the first paid user, it’s a feeling hard to explain, in a way it tells you : “everything is possible”. It’s the best reward for the hard work you provided.
I made a tweet that reached 1.6 millions views, it was hard to believe 😳
I built a SAAS over the last 3 weeks.
Today I made my first sale. 🎊

Now the question is, will it continue to grow? I still have to find a way to compute the retention metrics. I know this product is not by essence of a long-term use for founders, because you only need to validate a product once, and most of founder will work on 1 product for years. But I believe there a founders niche dedicated to shipping small product ideas fast, and that would need this product recurrently.
I’m also thinking about viral features that could make the product known by more people:
public/private project : the public project could be shared to people, it would have a public page. People could vote, give a grade, and show willingness to pay
Free month on invitation : the idea would be to give 1 month premium free to a user inviting 3 other users
I’m also thinking about other products and I’m of course using Founder Odyssey for them 🧑🚀
That’s it for now—take care, and see you soon!
Cheers,
Eric
